You Can Make a Difference When It Matters Most

As broadcasters, we know how it feels to make a difference in the community and in the world. When a member of our own ranks is in need, the Broadcasters Foundation of America is here to give you a way to make a difference in the life of a colleague.

There are many ways to contribute to our mission:

Become a Member

Membership serves a valuable purpose beyond your financial contribution. You can help us identify colleagues who need our assistance. Membership for working broadcasters is $150 per year. Retired broadcasters may make a contribution at their discretion.

Give an Individual Gift to the Endowment Fund

The Broadcasters Foundation of America Endowment Fund was established in 1998 by a resolution of the Broadcasters Foundation of America Board of Directors.

The fund's exclusive purpose is to ensure that financial assistance is available in perpetuity to fellow broadcasters who, through no fault of their own, are in acute personal financial need. The endowment is used exclusively to support the benevolent outreach of the Broadcasters Foundation of America.

To qualify for help, an individual must go through a detailed application process which includes a financial statement, income tax returns, reference checks, and a physician's medical statement, when appropriate. Monthly grants vary in size depending on individual circumstances. All grants are approved and renewed annually by the Broadcasters Foundation of America Executive Committee. Grant recipients remain anonymous.

Give a Corporate Contribution to the Angel Initiative

For the past decade, individual support and corporate sponsorship of annual events have provided a substantial portion of the resources of the Broadcasers Foundation of America. This revienue has made it possible for the foundation to distribute over $3 million to broadcasters in acute need.

As more and more broadcasting baby-boomers are headed toward their senior years, and because of the fiscal reality of reduced pensions and benefits, many corporations offer employees a slimmer safety net than at any time in the history of the workplace.

When disaster strikes, many broadcasters find themselves quickly depleting their resources with nowhere to turn. As a result, and because this is our mission, the acute need falls upon the Broadcasters Foundation of America. Frankly, we have no accurate formula to predict future demands upon our resources.

The Broadcasters Foundation of America Corporate Angel Initiative is designed to meet this need.

The Corporate Angel Initiative will enhance our ability to reach out to broadcasters in need without drawing down the corpus of our endowment fund. We must allow the endowment to compound so that future income can help us sustain monthly grant commitments. It is important to remember that, once we begin a monthly grant, particularly involving the elderly, we stay with that individual throughout his or her lifetime.

Companies making an annual gift to the Corporate Angel Initiative provide the bedrock for our future planning and service. With this revenue steam, the foundation can confidently make grants to needy broadcasters, knowing that combined with future endowment income and successful events, the resources will be there to meet these long-term commitments.

With your corporate generosity today, we can literally save lives. Make a contribution today. | Printable form
