The Broadcasters Foundation of America is now a Public Charity under the regulations of the Internal Revenue Service. Previously the foundation has operated as a private foundation. The Public Charity designation places the foundation in the same charitable contribution status as all of the major national charities operating in the United States.
The Broadcasters Foundation Board of Directors has approved the dates and locations for the 2009 fund raising events.
- The 2009 Golden Mike will be held on February 23 at The Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
- The 2009 NAB Charity Golf Tournament will be held on Sunday, April 19 at The Bali Hai Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada.
- The 2009 Ward L. Quaal Pioneer Awards and Breakfast will be held on Wednesday, April 22 at The Bellagio in Las Vegas.
- The 2009 Offshore family weekend will be held Friday May 1 through Sunday May 3 at The Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne, Florida.
